I can hear Ashley in my head. She’s saying to me, “Mooooommmm, enough! Where’s the joy?” I don’t feel a lot of joy these days, but Ashley was so full of joy. She loved laughter and she loved making people laugh. (So, I opened up this post of FB for stories of Ashley.) They don’t have to be funny; it can just be a good memory. I’ll start with two. Today is about Ashley and her joy for life! 💕
When Ashley was around four, we took her to our church’s Christmas Pageant. This was a beautiful celebration of Christmas, an amazing performance. Anyway, we were sitting on the side (the mezzanine). “Jesus” came in on the second floor just above us and walked right past us down the stairs. With her eyes as huge as saucers, and her hands over her heart, then pointing at him, she said, “Mommy, how can Jesus be there if he’s in my heart, and how can he be in my heart if he’s so big?” We had a good laugh over that one for years. She was always so dramatic!
Second story: You may have heard of a parent writing a letter to a judge on behalf of their child. Have you ever known a child to write a letter to a judge on their parent’s behalf? You can guess what’s coming…a number of years ago, Bill got a ticket for speeding. I don’t remember if it was her idea or his, but Ashley ended up writing the judge a letter. As previously stated, she was an amazing writer, and she certainly didn’t disappoint. I’ve attached a picture of her letter, if you’d like to read it.
Also, more photos are attached because I can never get enough of this precious face. Love y Ashley! Forever and always!! 💕
