Had breakfast with this beautiful woman today.
Let me tell you the back story: First, there was a dog. Several months after my Ashley had died, I was led to this sweet homeless dog (long story, but I knew Ashley wanted me to save him!) Ashley loved dogs; I love dogs…one of our many shared similarities!
Anyway, I brought this sweet pup home, and Zach named him Danny Boy. My plan was to keep him, but turned out I did not have the emotional/physical reserves to take on a sweet, untrained pup, which I realised pretty quickly. What was I going to do with this very exuberant dog, who was jumping on my car, peeing in the house, and chewing everything?! I couldn’t just take him to any place where he might be put down, but I was a bit of an emotional wreck and panicking! I posted a plea for help on FB, and a friend answered…saving me and Danny Boy! She agreed to sponsor him if Belles Buds Rescue would take him…and they did…they rescued him!!!
From there, Ashley decided to foster him. After about six failed adoption events, Ashley knew that they were meant for each other, and she kept him…adopting him into her life.
That was probably a year and a half ago. We have come to know each other through FB, as much as you can “know” someone through FB. Though I feel I know a lot about her just because I know how much she loves dogs! Anyway, this morning was the first time I’ve actually met Ashley, though I felt like I’ve known her much longer. Of course, she has the same name as my Ashley, so…yes, can’t ignore that automatic bond. On top of that, she loves dogs and loves saving the lost dogs who are going to have a harder time finding a furever home. That was my Ashley, too. In addition, she has the kindest, most open heart, and I can’t help loving that about her. She is physically very different from my Ashley, but just as beautiful. They both glow with an inner kindness and beauty.
I just love how God orchestrated bringing this new friend into my life. She’s an amazing woman, and she makes a difference in the lives of these sweet dogs every day!! She currently has seven (I think that’s right!), and just left this morning to go pick up a new rescue to foster. She is truly gifted with her communication with these sweet dogs!
Thank you for taking Danny Boy and giving him a wonderful home! He loves you so much! I’m so blessed and thankful for you!! 💕
