Welcome

I hope you will find healing, hope, faith, and comfort as you journey with me through grief and loss

My blog

The Story

Welcome to my site. If you are here because you’ve had a major loss in your life, I am so very sorry. If you’d like to know what brought me to this place, start with the “About Me” page. One of my goals is to make grief and bereavement something that we talk about; that my experiences would help to educate others on grief. This grief is long-lasting; there is no time-table, and we all grieve differently. It’s ok to talk about grief, and it’s ok to cry. Yes, tears may be uncomfortable, but they are a part of this life. I hope you will gain some understanding about grief from this Mom’s perspective, things I have learned and observed as I have journeyed and continue to journey this path. Thank you for visiting. 💕

The Family

Our Family

Just a little intro to our family: Bill is Dad; Gayla is Mom; Ashley is our oldest (holding Prissy, now in heaven with Ashley); and Zach is our youngest. We were so blessed to have these two precious kids, and we are thankful for every sweet moment we’ve had with both of them. We each miss Ashley in our own way, and long for the day when we will be reunited in heaven.

Butterflies

I have always loved butterflies. Since Ashley’s death, they are even more special to my heart. I see them often in my garden (along with dragonflies), and they usually bring such a smile (though sometimes tears!) They represent a complete metamorphosis from something that was confined to the earth, to something gorgeous and vibrant (just to be clear…Ashley was gorgeous and vibrant on this earth!) She is now free, like a beautiful butterfly. That is Ashley…completely transformed in heaven to a life of vibrancy and freedom and joy unimaginable.

Music on the Journey

One of many playlists…songs that have helped me through the grief. I love music and have it playing through much of the day. It is healing, even through the tears.

Some of these songs may seem like an odd choice, but they all speak to me in some special way. Several of them are geared more toward those who have lost a baby, but those speak to me, too. Some of them are about a spouse, but the loss is transcendent. So, I hope they bring you healing, and lift you to God’s throne, and inspire your heart…even through the tears.
